Removing an illegal staircase & more!

Sometimes we are tasked with undoing certain things and bringing them back into code.  This particular client had purchased this property with these ‘renovations” already done, specifically this very illegal and steep staircase to some attic rooms.  The biggest issue here was SAFETY, or complete lack thereof.  It was a very steep staircase that was open on one side and also blocked a standard width hallway.  Both of these combined were too much of a risk in the even there was a fire.

While the property was vacant we took the opportunity to refinish the floors, update the bathroom, swap out the appliances & ass a little countertop space, add a closet to the bedroom (there was never a closet!),  and add a closet in the hallway for linen storage.

All the upgrades added value to this apartment that already has a great layout and lots of sun.
