Managing your property from 3,000 miles away

A lot of our clients purchased a piece of property along the way as their primary residence and then eventually moved to a beach in California, but hey, no judgement!  Or some had to pick up and move when their company offered them a promotion in Chicago, but either way they are far away from their “new”  income property.

Most times it makes sense for people to hold onto their once forever home as an income property, and SPOILER ALERT! — it is a terrible idea to try and manage it from a far away land.

PRO TIP: Call us before you try to renovate, rent, and manage your own property from thousands of miles away.  We are happy to help when you’re in a crisis, but it can easily be avoided when you hire professional help from the beginning and it ALWAYS costs you less in the end!

Thanks to the invention of cameras on mobile phones (and FaceTime!) we are able to easily communicate with our clients in real time when managing their properties.  Sometimes we need to select flooring options or other times we need to review an emergency situation with you.  But sometimes we get to do awesome renovation projects and want to keep you in the loop every step of the way.

Our most recent example was at a single family home we manage in Natick.  It is a large 4 bedroom house but unfortunately didn’t have a master bathroom, and the only tub was located on the 1st floor.  So we had two spacious bedrooms on the 2nd floor with only one shared bathroom that had a stand-up shower.  The owners really wanted to make it more appealing and add a master bathroom, and so we did.

We met for our original walkthrough when the house was filled with stuff.  We started by clearing out the “stuff”– hiring professional movers and arranging for storage of antiques and heirlooms, hiring junk removal people for the trash, and arranging for many items to be donated.

After clearing everything out we were able to sketch out the placement and rough layout of the bathroom.  And after that, the rest is history.  You can check out the B&A gallery of the master bathroom here: Natick Bathroom Reno

We also renovated the other bathroom– before and after pics here!

We also updated the kitchen, lighting throughout the house, flooring, painting, landscaping, and so much more.  I take the responsibility of investing my clients money very seriously.  I believe it is my duty to prove trust by fulfilling my promises, and it is quite honestly a privilege.  Taking a stuffed-to-the-brim office and turning it into an amazing, sleek, clean master bathroom is why I love my job so much.
